The goal of this site’s home page is to provide Habana Premium Cigar Shoppe’s customers with an easy to navigate events schedule and archive, and to get them involved in the online community I’ve created for this client. Since the focus of this site is very niche, I made sure to include Search Engine Optimization throughout the text on this page. Very specific items of interest are included in the footer to ensure exposure to a broad range of topics encompassed within the niche’s focus. Email notifications of blog posts are made available on every page of the site, as well as RSS feed subscription. Easy navigation is included on both the top bar of the site, as well as the right column of the layout to ensure surfers of any reading habits can find what they need. Base navigational links are included at the top of the middle column to accommodate mobile Internet users. Marketing Habana Premium Cigar Shoppe’s Internet store (www.pipesandcigars.com) is unobtrusively included throughout the site.

Blog entries are made to announce events, cigar and smoker’s related news, club meetings, radio show audio archives, new product announcements, and photo gallery updates. Blog posts about related topics are made to ensure up-to-date content is added on a regular basis, increasing the search engine focused textual content on the site. Composing blog entries based on your site’s focus is a maintenance service I provide separately from the design services. Alternatively, I offer training services to familiarize you with the software installed on your site so that you may perform the blogging activities yourself, if you so choose.
Event Schedule - Habana Happenings (image 3)
Integrated events schedule provides an overview of upcoming events. I’ve arranged it so that a condensed version of this upcoming events schedule is also visible in the left hand column of every page for easy reference. Each event is accompanied by a pop up upon click that includes important event information.

Embedded Google calendar of events provides an easy way for Habana Premium employees to update event information, which helps to synchronize my maintenance of the event schedule in an easy, efficient manner. Visitors to the site have a variety of ways to check the upcoming events, depending on their personal preferences.
Photo Galleries – Habana Happenings (image 5)
All photo galleries are presented to your visitors from one main “Galleries” page for easy navigation. I set up “Albums” to include all related galleries in one group to make it easy for site visitors to find the photos they’re most interested in viewing. Each gallery opens up to it’s own page where visitors can easily scroll through the collections.

To increase the indexing of the site’s content, I include keyword rich textual content related to the photos in each gallery on the photo gallery pages. This serves dual purposes; site visitors get a better understanding of the photos on display, and the text on the page provides content for the search engines to index. The more text on any site, the more free traffic it receives from the search engines through a natural process. Over time, this is the most effective way to build a high search engine ranking, and credibility with both the search engines and site visitors alike.
Customized Community Forums (sister site location)
This client wanted to make sure their customers, friends, and club members had a user friendly discussion forum to accommodate a wide variety of Internet experienced members. I customized the forum to match the look and feel of the sites, and arranged the forums in such a way that new users would be able to enjoy their experience in their new environment. I moderate the forum as Administrator, as an additional service to this client. Forum activity is encouraged through blog posts made on the main site, linking any related articles directly to the related discussion thread in the forum. Manual, moderated forum registration ensures the members a clean, spam free community environment.
Audio Archives – Habana Happenings (image 6)
This client hosts a radio show every Saturday. I post the audio recordings of these shows to this archive page so that Habana Premium Cigar Shoppe’s customers can listen to shows they’ve missed. Providing this audio archive for site visitors builds credibility for my client as an expert in his field, as well as the means to get to know more about his business. This particular radio show caters to the interests of his clients, and the audio recordings are a great way to add a personal touch to the site.
Contact Form - Habana Happenings (image 7)
I highly recommend using a contact form on every site. Not only does this provide an easy way for visitors to contact you, but it also prevents your email address from being harvested by spammers. Just one example of how I focus on reducing your stress in running a fully functional, interactive web presence.
