Tonight’s project was originally to open Photoshop, and have some fun making Halloween graphics to share on Twitter and Facebook. I often make wallpapers, and other goodies to share with my friends. As often happens though, I found myself looking for somewhere to upload the graphics that I hadn’t made yet, and remembered that I have a website that I hadn’t updated in … well over a year.
Work keeps me busy with graphics and web development on a daily basis, so as most other designers can attest to, our own sites get neglected in our quest to keep our client sites updated.
When I saw the state of this site, I quickly decided it was time for something new. Not having a lot of time to spend, I went to StudioPress to see what new stuff they have. I chose a minimalist, responsive theme and proceeded to customize it. 4 hours later, I had an Autumn look and feel that I was happy with.
Then I looked at my portfolio.
Needless to say, my style and precision with graphics and development have changed very much since I ran my own design business. The examples in my old portfolio were no longer representative of what I’m doing these days, and how much my skills have improved.
The portfolio section of this site is dreadfully lacking, I know this. I’ll be working on getting some new and improved examples of my work uploaded… in the meantime, those Halloween graphics are still on my “to-do” list.
While I may have taken a few steps forward where my skills are concerned, this site has definitely taken a few steps back. I’m going to do my best to fix that.
Don’t even get me started on Twitter and Facebook posts. LOL!
